Help our Flushing Waterways sewershed become more flood resilient by joining us for rain garden maintenance in Flushing!
Fun fact: one rain garden can absorb 2,500 gallons of water a day! NYC’s rain gardens and other green infrastructure help reduce the amount of polluted stormwater entering our waterways and prevent flooding in our streets and homes.
Rain gardens also help capture street litter, keeping it from flowing through our sewers into Flushing Waterways. Removing trash from rain gardens allows them to do their jobs in soaking up as much stormwater as possible.
Location: Meet at the corner of Northern Boulevard and Bowne Street near Flushing YMCA.
