Flushing Bay Wild Oyster Survey

Want to learn more about wild oysters? Join our survey at Flushing Bay!

We’re excited to partner with Billion Oyster Project for a wild oyster survey at the Flushing Bay shoreline again! Learn to count and measure oysters along the coast to help understand current conditions as BOP investigates the potential to restore oyster reef habitat offshore.

You’ll also learn about how they grow and their key role for healthy waterways, getting up close and personal with the oysters while collecting and recording data to be used in future restoration reports.

Participants ages 12+ are welcome. Please note that those under the age of 16 must be companied by a parent or guardian.

Tools and supplies will be provided. Remember to bring water and dress for the weather. Close-toed shoes are required and we recommend wearing ones you won’t mind getting wet or muddy.

Location: Flushing Meadows Corona Park Kayak/Canoe Launch. Meet on the promenade by Pier 1 to walk over together.

Register here.
