RYAN CHEN

Stewardship Organizer

Ryan Chen is a Stewardship Organizer at Guardians of Flushing Bay. Ryan grew up in Flushing before moving to Long Island and remains deeply connected to the community. He holds a BA in Environmental Studies with a double minor in Peace and Justice Studies and Mandarin from Fordham University. Having been a climate justice and anti-gentrification organizer in NYC and more specifically in Flushing, Ryan is passionate about how socioeconomic systems and climate change are directly connected. In Flushing, Ryan has witnessed how gentrification directly impacts the well-being of our environments and people. It is why he is committed to building a strong environmental justice base in the community through GoFB's Sidewalk Stewardship program. Through his role, he hopes to galvanize more residents to take action while shifting the way we interact with nature in our built environment.
