Community Stewardship Coordinator

Rachel Wu is the Community Stewardship Coordinator at Guardians of Flushing Bay. As a life-long Flushing resident, Rachel is committed to understanding how gentrification, development and inequitable living conditions have impacted her neighbors and small businesses. Pursuing an M.A. in Urban Affairs at CUNY Queens College, Rachel has collaborated with the Queens Historical Society to research local gentrification and developed deeper relationships in her community as a Census Field Enumerator. In her role, Rachel stewards our community's engagement in the issues impacting our watershed by organizing public programming at Flushing Bay and Creek, communicating to our members about ongoing advocacy efforts and managing public-facing committees that foster grassroots decision-making.
